Sport + Access Award
Sport + Access Award
Applications open until 7 June
Projects promoting the development of sport and physical activity for persons with disabilities may apply.
The "Sport + Accessible" Award, developed in partnership by the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ) and the National Institute for Rehabilitation (INR), aims to reward and disseminate projects that promote the development of sport and physical activity for people with disabilities, with a view to their social inclusion.
The winning project will receive a cash prize of 7,000 euros, awarded by the two Institutes and Decathlon Portugal. For each priority area, an honorable mention will be awarded, which will receive a non-monetary prize from the partner Decathlon Portugal, in sports equipment, in the amount of 500 euros.
For this third edition, three priority areas have been defined:
- Social inclusion and awareness raising;
- training;
- Sport development (as the growth of inclusive sport practice).
The Prize has filled a gap in the dissemination of best practices that enhance, directly or indirectly, sport and physical activity for people with disabilities, be they clubs, federations, universities and others.
In this context, a prize of this nature is based on the need to boost the development of sport and physical activity for people with disabilities, in professional and non-professional contexts. It was intended, therefore, to design a mechanism to disseminate, value and reward the best that is done in this area in Portugal and that is also in line with the commitments made by the Portuguese State, as a signatory of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
