Investment of €22 million
New model for housing and integration of the most vulnerable has an investment of €22 million, financed by the RRP
It is called Collaborative and Community Housing and is a social response that is based on individual and family housing in community, with the provision of support and services. A model that privileges the inclusion and combating the isolation of people in situations of greater social vulnerability, such as the elderly or people with disabilities, in a perspective of balance between individual privacy and the collective space. The Ordinance of the Ministry of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security that regulates Collaborative Housing enters into force on Tuesday.
What is Collaborative and Community Housing? They are projects for housing (temporary or permanent) that are based on the principle of community and collaboration. These are independent dwellings, necessarily nearby, which can be apartments or villas, for individual or family use, with shared use spaces, such as kitchens, community gardens, common spaces for sports activities, cultural events or computer activities, among others. These spaces can be built from scratch, or taking advantage of existing buildings, as long as it suits the needs. Collaborative Housing must include support services that promote social interaction, including between different generations, and the social inclusion of residents.
Who is Collaborative Housing for? children and young people, the elderly, persons with disabilities, mental or psychiatric illnesses, as well as other vulnerable groups. It may have other residents, not included in these groups, upon concrete evaluation of the projects.
How many people can live in these spaces? Collaborative Housing spaces can have a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 60 residents. It is planned to create more than 750 places in collaborative housing.
What are the admission conditions? The process of admission to Collaborative Housing determines that a social assessment is made to the candidate, weighing their needs, capacities and expectations, and determining the priorities of intervention.
What services will exist in the structures of Collaborative and Community Housing? Support services include food. Activities that promote physical and mental autonomy, as well as cultural, social or recreational activities, adapted to the profile of residents, should be ensured. Psychosocial support should also be provided where necessary. These services must be provided by the managing body or in partnership.
Where can there be collaborative housing? These units should preferably be inserted in residential areas, in order to allow the integration and inclusion of residents, be close to public transport and access to vehicles. And without physical barriers that hinder circulation on the surrounding public road and access to residence.
Who can manage these spaces? private charitable institutions or bodies legally treated as such, and private entities that carry out social support activities.
Who is Coordinating Collaborative Housing? A technical management, necessarily provided by a technician with a higher education in social and behavioral sciences, social service or health, and which integrates a technical team with a number of professionals varying according to the number, profile and needs of residents.
