The Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho, was in Leiria, Coimbra and Porto for the signing of 94 contracts under the Program of Enlargement of the Network of Social Equipment - 3rd Generation (PARES 3.0).
This support will make it possible to strengthen the social offer in the three districts, an overall investment of 87 million euros. Ana Mendes Godinho said that "social investment is a key instrument and driver of our development". "We have mobilised and tried to allocate as much money as possible to priorities that are socially critical and that we have identified, including during the pandemic: reskilling homes, investing in new home responses and expanding responsiveness and innovative solutions," he said. Ana Mendes Godinho highlighted the 371 projects approved throughout the country, with a total investment of 393,049.774 euros, of which the Government supports with 234,310,383 euros, with 22,365 posts intervened. During her speech, the Minister stressed the importance of the social sector during the pandemic, demonstrating a "deep gratitude not only for those present but for all who work in your institutions". "They are extraordinary people who have shown the importance of what the social sector is in the model we have in Portugal. We have a social state that lives in partnership and in a joint mobilization of resources between the state and the social sector to reach and respond to the people who need it most," he said. PARES aims to support the development and consolidation of the network of social facilities, namely in the creation of new posts in various aspects: in crèches, the strengthening of Home Support Services and Day Centres, the increase in the number of places in Residential Structures for the Elderly for situations of greater dependence and the integration of people with disabilities through the increase of the network of Residential Responses and Activity and Empowerment Centres for Inclusion.
