The Family Restructuring Licence and Allowance were created in 2020 to support victims of domestic violence who have been granted this status, and who are forced to leave their residence due to that crime, as provided for in Decree-Law No 101/2021.

The Family Restructuring Allowance is awarded by the Social Security and has a maximum duration of 10 days, including employees, self-employed, members of statutory bodies. Victims without an employment relationship or contract and who are not covered by the social security system are also covered. In the case of workers covered by the convergent social protection system, the responsibility for payment lies with the public employer.

In the case of employees or employees in public office, the allowance is granted during the days of leave (with the above limit) and corresponds to the worker’s daily remuneration. The remaining workers applying for this allowance receive the amount proportional to the days of leave, calculated on the value of the Social Support Index (in 2021: EUR 438.81; in 2022: EUR 443.2).

In order to apply for the Family Restructuring Allowance, it is necessary to complete and submit the Model RP 5094-DGSS, accompanied by proof of the status of victim of domestic violence and the documents identified in field four of the application, to the following e-mail address: ISS-SRF@seg-social.pt
