Government sets up registration and protection platform for Ukrainian children

In response to the humanitarian crisis arising from the armed conflict in Ukraine, and paying particular attention to the need to protect children and young people arriving in Portugal without a responsible adult, the Government has set up an electronic platform for registering cases of unaccompanied minors.
The platform is hosted on the official government website PortugalforUkraine.
A service was also created to clarify doubts, through the email: childcare.ukraine@seg-social.pt, which will soon be complemented by a helpline. To closely follow the topic, the Government has also formed a special group of multidisciplinary composition, with teams from the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, the Ministry of Justice, the SEF and the Office of the High Commissioner for Migration. "It is essential to reinforce the importance of identifying all children who are in this situation, whether they are already in Portugal or in transit, in order to guarantee their safety and full protection, as well as access to all the existing support valences in the country," says the Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho.
