Presentation of the Social Security Digital Transformation Programme
Investment of €200 million
The Government presented the "Clic - Social Security Digital Transformation Programme", which has as priority objectives to facilitate the relationship of citizens with Social Security, eliminate bureaucracy and increase the effectiveness of protection. The initiative represents an investment of €200 million, foreseen in the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).
During her speech at the presentation of the "Clic", which took place in Lisbon, the Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho, said that "this is a day of reinvention" of Social Security, more focused now "on responding in a much more personalized way to people and companies" and also "much faster, more uncomplicated and closer", building solutions.
Ana Mendes Godinho highlighted some of the most emblematic measures of this new programme, namely automatic family benefits such as the allowance (which will be automatically granted after the birth of a child) or the elimination of monthly statements of company salaries and quarterly statements of self-employed workers, whose information is already currently in the possession of the public administration.
Let us also make this dream, already partially fulfilled, a message of transformation and reinvention of a very human social security that is here to serve every person and every company.
The Secretary of State for Social Security, for his part, said that this program aims to provide a better public service and thus "strengthen the confidence of Portuguese society in the functioning of a system that is for all and for all".
“By 2026, 85 measures will transform Social Security. We are committed to a proactive Social Security that tracks events and the life cycle of people and businesses; simple, direct and accessible social security, focused on rapid response", said Mr Bastos.
The Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Administrative Modernisation also stated that in order to better respond to the needs of citizens, "it is essential that we continuously evolve towards a Public Administration that takes an increasingly innovative approach: one that anticipates solutions rather than just reacts to problems, and adapts procedures according to the concrete situations you face".
Mário Campolargo also said that the automation and simplification of social benefits allows the citizen "not to have to take an initiative to receive what he is entitled to, to introduce transparency and ease of understanding, and to eliminate the stigmas associated with some benefits".
