National Campaign on Family Reception
National Campaign on Family Reception
#alltogetherforfamilywelfare
The theme of family care for children and young people is gaining new strength with the launch of the #AllTogetherNationalCampaignforfamilycare.
This initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security in partnership with the three entities managing the family care system (Social Security Institute, Casa Pia de Lisboa and Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa), aims to raise awareness and inform society, and to attract potential applicants to foster families, reinforcing this support network for children and young people who need a safe and structured family environment.
Family care is a promotion and protection measure decided by a Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth or by a court, in which children and young people in danger are temporarily entrusted to a duly certified foster family, where they can integrate into a family environment, essential to their development and well-being.
Family reception is more than a social response, it is a commitment of love and solidarity assumed by the host families, which become an essential support in the promotion of the rights and protection of these children and young people in complementarity with the intervention of the State.
International experience reinforces the need for continuous campaigns that broaden public awareness of family reception, ensuring the renewal and extension of families available to receive. The current national campaign, therefore, appears as a concerted action, involving several institutions to reach both the general public and specific target audiences, and aims to promote a more comprehensive and effective reception network.
